Manchester United 1 - 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Premier League, 22/9/18

Wolves held out against Man United to save a point in an impressive display of resiliency, as Joao Moutinho equalises after Fred’s opener, earning a 1-1 draw.
Just under four weeks removed from Wolves’ courageous performance against Manchester City, where the Pack held on for a 1-1 draw at the Molineux, it was the red side of the city that struggled to maintain dominance in a fixture, that on paper, had a clear favourite.
United started promisingly, an early penalty appeal upon Antonio Valencia was waved away, as the captain did act rather dramatically, but the direct attacking movement of The Red Devils was shown.
Brazilian summer signing Fred made an early impact upon the game, and on his Man United goal tally, as he swiftly tucked away a first-time strike into the bottom left corner following a flawless touch into his path by Pogba to give the home side the lead in the 18th minute.

This came as a wake-up call for Wolverhampton, who’s defence tightened up, with centre back Conor Coady being very vocal and commanding his backline. Wolves managed to recover and went into the break the more fired up side, looking to recuperate for the second 45.
After the restart the Wanderers took the fight back to United, as the game really started to open up into a well contested match. And it was the Portuguese International Joao Moutinho who lead this, by curling in a great effort from just outside the area, off of his weak foot into the top left corner leaving De Gea stranded on the spot. A truly great finish.

Wolves dug their studs into the ground from there and were forced the tie, despite the best efforts of Pogba who narrowly missed an inspired effort around 35 yards out.
But as the final whistle went, it was a frustrating day for the United supporters, but they couldn’t deny the determination displayed by Wolves, as the game finished level.
